As an investor, it’s important to know when the stock market opens and closes. Learn the stock exchange trading hours around the world.
North America trading hours
In the United States, there are two major stock exchanges, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Nasdaq. They’re located in New York, New York. Regular trading hours for both are 9:30 AM to 4 PM EST on weekdays, except for holiday closures.
The major stock exchange in Canada is the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX). Regular trading hours are Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 4 PM ET.
In Mexico, there’s the Mexican Stock Exchange. It’s known as the Bolsa Mexicana de Valores (BMV) in Spanish and is headquartered in Mexico City. Regular trading hours are Monday through Friday between 8:30 AM and 15:00, which is 3 PM CT.
South America trading hours
Argentina’s primary stock exchange is the BCBA, which is headquartered in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It’s open for regular trading Monday through Friday from 11 AM to 5 PM Argentina Standard Time.
The stock exchange in Brazil is the B3 and it’s located in São Paulo, Brazil. The regular trading hours are Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 5:55 PM Brasilia Standard Time.
In Chile, the dominant stock exchange is the Santiago Stock Exchange, and it’s located in Santiago, Chile. Regular trading hours are Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 5 PM Chile Summer Time.
The Colombia Stock Exchange is located in Bogotá, Colombia, and is the result of merging three individual stock exchanges in Columbia. Regular trading hours are Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 3:55 PM Eastern Standard Time.
In Peru’s capital is the Lima Stock Exchange. Regular trading hours are Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 3:52 PM Peru Standard Time.
Asia trading hours
China has two major stock exchanges, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and the Shanghai Stock Exchange. The Hong Kong Stock Exchange is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 4 PM with a lunch period from 12 PM to 1 PM Hong Kong Standard Time. The Shanghai Stock Exchange is open from 9:30 AM to 3 PM with a lunch period from 11:30 AM to 1 PM China Standard Time.
In Japan, the major stock exchange is the Tokyo Stock Exchange. It’s open for regular trading Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 3 PM with a lunch period from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM Japan Standard Time.
The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) is located in Mumbai, India. It’s open for regular trading Monday through Friday from 9:15 AM to 3:30 PM India Standard Time.
South Korea’s stock exchange is the Korea Stock Exchange (KRX). Regular hours are Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 3:30 PM Korean Standard Time.
Europe trading hours
Euronext is the largest stock exchange in Europe and is headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Regular trading hours are Monday through Friday 9 AM to 5:30 PM Central European Standard Time.
England’s London Stock Exchange is open for regular trading Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM Greenwich Mean Time.
The Frankfurt Stock Exchange in Germany is open for regular trading Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5:30 PM Central European Standard Time.
In Russia, the Moscow Exchange (MOEX) is the largest stock exchange. It’s open for regular trading Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 11:50 PM Moscow Standard Time.
The Madrid Stock Exchange is known as the Bolsa de Madrid and is the largest stock exchange in Spain. It’s open for regular trading Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5:30 PM Central European Standard Time.
SIX Swiss Exchange is Switzerland’s main stock exchange, and it’s located in Zurich. Regular trading hours are Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5:20 PM Central European Standard Time.
Africa trading hours
Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) is located in South Africa, and it’s the largest stock exchange in Africa. Regular trading hours are Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM South Africa Standard Time.
In the capital of Kenya is the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE). It’s open for regular trading Monday through Friday from 9:31 AM to 3 PM East Africa Time.
Oceania trading hours
The Australia Securities Exchange (ASX) is one of the world’s top financial market exchanges. Regular trading occurs Monday through Friday 10 AM to 4 PM Australian Eastern Daylight Time.
Regular trading for the New Zealand Stock Exchange (NZX) occurs Monday through Friday 10 AM to 4:45 PM New Zealand Daylight Time.
